Add structured data

Set defaults, add a page schema or JSON-LD, and reuse a library template.

On this page

Choose the default schemas

Open Schema > Defaults and choose the built-in schemas and content-type mappings you need. Read When this applies, then save the selection.

Use the Schema map to see your saved setup, including publisher details, defaults and custom schemas. Then check a published page to see which schemas actually apply there.

Add a schema to a page

Open the saved page or post, choose Schema in Advanced SEO, then Add schema. Choose Article, Blog post, Web page, Service or FAQ. Complete the form with facts visible on that page.

Use Resolved SEO title, Resolved meta description or Canonical URL where offered, or enter a value. Advanced JSON-LD supports other types; the example below uses a WebPage with sample values to replace. For shared schemas, use Add schema in the main workspace and choose an entry, content type or all-pages scope.

{
  "@context": "https://schema.org",
  "@type": "WebPage",
  "name": "About our company",
  "url": "https://example.com/about/"
}

Reuse a library template

A library item is a starting point, not published output. Each saved copy is independent, so changing the template later does not update the copies.

  1. Save a reusable schema in Schema library.
  2. Choose Use template to open a new draft, or select the template from an entry's Schema tab.
  3. Choose the copy's scope, check its values, enable it when intended, and save. A new workspace copy starts disabled until you configure it.

Preview and save the schema

Choose Preview to check the schema using the entry's saved content. Save pending content edits first if you want them included.

Use an explicit URL if the Canonical URL variable cannot resolve the intended public address. A theme can supply a different canonical, so check the rendered page too.

Choose Save schema when the values are correct. This save is separate from the content draft; an enabled schema can update an already published entry immediately.

If saving conflicts or its result is unclear, keep the draft and review the saved schema before trying again. A draft entry still needs to be published before its schema appears publicly.

Check the published markup

  • Open the published page and inspect its JSON-LD. Confirm the type, URL and values match the visible page.
  • Check the intended locale and any publisher, default or custom schemas that appear together.
  • Validate the markup with the relevant testing tool. Valid JSON-LD does not guarantee a search-engine rich result.
